This O's-Royals ALCS could actually happen. Or am I dreaming? Can't stop replaying the video of Delmon Young's double yesterday. Pure, unadulterated bedlam in that Camden Yards crowd. I know my whole street heard me yelling when he hit it. Seventeen years since the last division title. Seventeen years since the last ALCS berth. A lot of kids grew up as Os fans in the late 90s/early 00s who know only shitty baseball. It's not quite the Royals' run of futility, but it's nothing to sneeze at either. Two great baseball cities are alive today. Just awesome for the game.

    Amen, O's and Royals.

All for "favorites" lost yesterday. Some exciting baseball!

I give her credit for showing up in public- and for sticking with him.
My wife said she would have dumped him pronto.

I wonder if the Ausmus inertia/indecision has anything to do with the fact he has a veteran (and very well-paid) team to run, and that maybe he's more inclined to put the biggest names out there to succeed or fail.
There is no point having three Cy winners in your rotation if you're putting games in the hands of Chamberlain and washed-up versions of Soria and Nathan.

This has been the greatest "sports week" of my adult life. I'm especially honored to have a kid texting me constantly with excitement over every big Royals' play, from Dyson's throw last night to getting out of jams the whole evening.

He paused the top of the 11th for me to get home from the station -- not knowing what was to be. What a night - I had a leftover chicken wing in my mouth when Hosmer launched his rocket. Then the two of us are jumping around the living room but trying to stay quiet to not wake up everyone else.

And THAT'S what it's all about. Great moment.

The fuckin' Giants. You can set down 20 in a row, and with two outs in the ninth they can still go walk-single-double to tie it. They won't die.

And taking Zimmerman out for Drew Storen with one out to go? LOLZ. That's Bochy over Williams right there.

I love October baseball, even when my favorite team is not involved. I just wish I could see the end of some of these games. 6 a.m. just comes too early to make it to the end of these games when I don't have a true rooting interest.

I'm watching and loving this Nats/Giants game right now, but if it goes another inning, I'll probably have to shut it down. And I'm someone who used to pride myself on staying up to the bitter end of these games. Now, it's a rarity to make to 11 p.m.

Funny thing is - I didn't turn over to the baseball until after TCU beat Oklahoma, the Giants were in the 9th. Now it's like watching one of those police chases.
