Please note that I already said I would not have argued that point about Petit if LTL had made it first. He didn't. He made it after I pointed out the flaw in his initial statement, which was simply that the Giants had depth that no other team would have. That is clearly incorrect in that the Nationals have every bit the depth in starting pitching. Arguably more given that Roark was the better starter this season.

I ignored your other point because it doesn't counter mine. I never claimed that Williams made the right choice leaving Roark out of the starting rotation. I simply claimed that the Nationals have as much depth in starting pitching as the Giants, which they clearly do.

Now, if you want to try to argue that Petit was better than Roark this season, by all means, make the attempt. So far, you seem to be backing away from that claim.

ERA means enough to me that when somebody points out that Petit's midseason ERA was something like 0.69, I sit up like Pavlov's dog and bark.

Starting pitching doesn't begin in the 12th inning, knob. That's my whole point. The Giants have that guy that nobody else does. Everyone else is just sticking their fourth- or fifth-best starter in that role.

Again, if you had made that argument from the start, I wouldn't have argued. You said they had superior depth. Not the same thing.

But hey, keep on leaning on that crutch of lame insults rather than just admit your initial point didn't work, but your clarification is better.

I'm going to watch playoff baseball instead of wading through your semantic paste.
Maybe the others have more patience for you. I do not.

Translation: Fart boy argued himself into a rhetorical corner. He either has to try to argue that Petit is a better pitcher than Roark or he has to run away, so he is running away.

I don't have the patience either. It's just the only game in town.

Feeling confident and incredibly nervous for the Royals tonight.

With Shields on the start and Kauffman Stadium probably the loudest it will ever be, I'd like to think the Angels have more pressure on them because they have no more margin of error.

"Big Game" James is 2-4 with a 5.26 ERA in the postseason.

    James Worthy should sue.

The Tigers don't deserve to advance.
This team looks like a bunch of zombies getting ready for the golf course/hunting cabin.

At this point I feel like it's better not to get involved, but it's absolutely true that the Natsmcan match pitching depth with anyone, or at least the giants. Roark was better this year, and the notion that petit was groomed intentionally for this role is silly. The giants, like every other team in baseball made their 6th best starter their swingman. Roark isn't starting for the same reason petit isn't, they thought they had 4 better guys. If they knew he had a 2 hit shutout on tap, he would have started.
