Holy cow, that's huge. Colletti's roster construction "skills" were that franchise's glaring weakness.

Wait, "most expensive player must be the best" isn't a winning strategy?

It works reasonably well until the playoffs, which become a crapshoot.

I was thinking more of his "shitty bullpen, no fifth starter or bench" strategy.

Nine-inning games are lasting an average of 3:31 in the postseason, up from 3:02 during the regular season.

Not that surprising. There's about an extra minute of commercial time between innings in postseason games, right? More pitching changes?

Set aside four hours on your PVR and it's still not enough for a nine-inning game.

Not to mention all pitchers treat working with a man on base like they're re-enacting a scene from "The Hurt Locker."

Rumors are now that he will dump Don Mattingly and trade for Joe Maddon to manage the Dodgers. Makes sense Maddon is an LA guy.

Or they could wait a year. Maddon's Tampa Bay contract expires after 2015.

I like Maddon but I'm not sure he would be that great with the type of veteran roster that the Dodgers will continue to have.

I'm with Fart on 1985 Gooden. Would love to see somebody pitch like that forever.

In the same vein, the Kerry Wood who began his major-league career.

And offensively ... Babe Ruth. To see him waddle around the bases.
