Zito HAD to have made a deal with the devil in the 2012 NLCS. Slow, slower, slowest put the Cardinals to sleep.

    This is unbelievable.

Two years ago, my son and I were lucky enough to attend the ASG and Home Run Derby in KC. I told him this would probably be the most notable event in Kansas City baseball in his lifetime.

Now, for seven different nights over the past two weeks, we've stayed up late and lived and died with every pitch. What a run. I hope this never ends.

I had legitimately forgotten how much fun baseball can be.

If it's the Royals and Giants, it could be a grand total of zero home runs.

(The Giants don't have one in the LCS -- I wonder if a team has ever won a series without one.)

    27 outs
27 miserable fucking outs from the World Series.
Tomorrow's gonna be a helluva day.

This truly is 2007 all over again. Good on the Royals. But that week off is going to be a killer.

Keep in mind I'm high on life and beer right now, and haven't given a lot of thought to who the competition is, but how many Gold Gloves could find their way to KC? Everyone but Infante?

Sam Mellinger had a column about 10 days ago on how the Royals are actually built for the playoffs because of their defense and bullpen. It's truly eye-opening to see just how sharp and error-free the defense is most nights. Cain bailed out Shields on Game 3 of the ALDS. Defense bailed out KC tonight when Guthrie was getting hit hard early in the game.

I look at the eight starting position players, think strictly defense and try to think of anybody in the American League I'd want to replace any of them. It's an awfully short list and one of the guys on it is on the Royals bench.

So, do the Royals now hold the longest post season winning streak ever at 10?

Amazing thing about this run is in 5 of their 7 games they've gone into the 9th inning tied (behind once) and won every one.

Salvador Perez and Alex Gordon will win them.
