As soon as the last out was made, one of my Facebook friends - a former h.s. softball coach - posted, "Take that sabermetrics."

Is there something I'm missing that makes the Royals some sort of rebuke to sabermetrics? Stolen bases maybe? Small ball?

    Yes.

People don't seem to realize that statheads don't hate those things. It's just that when that kind of analysis became more mainstream, we were in a high-offense era when those strategies become less valuable.

In the current offensive environment? Bunt away, no big deal.

Why is Wacha on the Cardinals postseason roster if Matheny is not going to use him in long relief?

I look forward to Don Denkinger throwing out the first pitch before Game 6 of the Series.

That would be awesome but MLB would never allow it.

In case Tim Lincecum needs a drinking buddy?

It's mystifying why they have been so inconspicuous after recent postseasons they both have had.

Ugh. Another fantastic game that I won't be able to stay awake long enough to see the end.

There was a group of us drinking beer tonight....3 royals fans, 2 cardinals fans......I suggested this, along with Orta standing at first, and Brett and Saberhagen coming out and giving him a hug.

I also suggested the Royals have Vince Coleman be the honorary tarp roller.

So that afternoon game comes in in a spiffy 3 hours, meaning that, of course, the night game has to take 4 hours.
