    And a lead-off double for Soriano means we should get to Never-Nervous Sangervis with a chance to tie.

    Paul Goldschmidt has batted 27 times against Tim Lincecum. He is hitting .541 with seven home runs. Tonight's was an opposite-field shot, which never happens for a righty at AT&T Park.

    The Giants just have to have a vastly overpaid former Cy Young winner in their rotation. They were scrambling once Zito's contract ran out.

    It's amazing that this could happen to someone so blazingly talented without a major injury. What the hell happened between 2010 and 2011?

    I'm certainly no expert on it. But I believe his delivery, with the flailing arms and legs, took its toll on his arm. Perhaps not an ulnar tear, but it wore him down.
