    It's May fucking 5th.
The Braves have their flaws, but for fuck's sake at least wait until July before saying a team -- especially a contending team -- needs to pack it in for the season.

Especially a team in first place.

Victor Martinez just looked at strike 3.

Fourth time he has struck out this season.

    In 100 at-bats.

Through 6 innings, Jeff Samardzija has allowed 1 unearned run on 3 hits and 0 BBs. He's lowered his ERA to 1.72.

The Cubs are losing 1-0 while being no-hit, and if he loses the game Samardzija falls to 0-4.

    Winners win.

First called third strike on him since May 21, 2013, 154 consecutive games.

Samardzija broke up the no-hitter himself with a leadoff double in the bottom of the sixth. Winners really do win...

White Sox and Cubs head to the 12th tied 1-1.

With this much ineptitude on both sides, let's save time and call it a tie.

Samardzija went nine, gave up an unearned run, and scored the Cubs' only run after hitting a leadoff double.

He remains winless on the year with 50 IP and a 1.64 ERA.

    Just not a winner.

He and Chris Sale (well, once he returns from injury) are playing their way out of Chicago ... ;)

Fredi Gonzalez had a one-on, no-out situation in the ninth inning down by a run tonight. He elected to not use Ryan Doumit to pinch hit, but instead use Jordan Schafer - the team's fastest player - to lay down a sacrifice bunt. It would have made a lot more sense to not give away that out, and instead let Schafer pinch run and try to steal. But, it didn't play out that way and Justin Upton K'd looking to end the game. Seven losses in a row.

angels just finished scoring three runs in bottom of 8th to go up 4-1 over yanks. all three runs scored with 2 out on bases loaded walks; all told angels 'rally' was the result of SIX -- COUNT 'EM -- 6 WALKS!! what a job by yanks bullpen -- three different relievers issued the run-scoring free passes.

little league-like pitching right there, folks.
