This team is more than two players away. Especially when one of them is currently struggling to keep his K% below 40 in AAA.

And Kris Bryant has a slightly better chance of playing the infield at Wrigley than I do. His future is in the corner outfield.

Rangers have called up second base prospect Rougned Odor, which I mention simply because I wanted to type "Rougned Odor" (though I understand he's a good prospect).

He was supposedly set to go to the Cubs in the Garza trade when the Rangers saw something they didn't like in Garza's medical reports and demanded the Cubs settle for Grimm and Ramirez instead.

I hope Epstein and Hoyer stay forever.

You don't call two kids up and turn a franchise around.

Strasburg and Harper were the closest recently, and it took plenty of help for them to make the playoffs that one year.

You should wipe that one from the slate. I don't think it gets much dumber.

    Yes, it does.

Based on another post on a thread far, far away (which would've supported your argument better had you said it here, this is a paddleboard and not a surfboard. Whoops. I'm not a surfer. I don't truly know the difference from looking at them. I'm not overly concerned about it, either.

The Marlins are on top of the NL East right now. They've made the postseason twice in MLB history. Each time they won the World Series. It may be time to recognize them as contenders.

Good start, and definitely a surprise, but much like I said when you were talking about the Braves' losing streak, it's early May. That the Marlins are in first at this point is interesting, especially given where they were last season. But let's wait a couple of months before we crown their asses.
All you do by playing well in April, May and June is put yourself in a position to make a run in the second half. You don't win a pennant in those months.

One of my favorite sayings about baseball: It's a marathon, not a sprint. In most cases, 162 games is the great equalizer.

It's beyond silly to claim that a team's title 17 years ago has any bearing on this season.

Yep. Almost every team is going to have a six- or seven-game losing streak at some point. Or a winning streak of the same length. Over 162 games, over six months, the law of averages takes over and the better and worse teams tend to finish where they should. That's true for almost every facet of baseball, as well as other sports and life in general.
