Apparently Sabathia is sitting at 86 and didn't top 90 in his last start.
The Yankees are saying they're not worried.

I appreciate his motivation for ditching the weight.
He said he recently lost a young cousin to heart disease.
But this kind of thing does not spell good fortune for power pitchers.
I'd like to see a study on how this has affected velo, over the years.

17-year-old Julio Arias starts and throws a perfect inning (2 Ks) for Dodgers on Saturday. He turns 18 on Aug. 12.

    1) What are the chances he can make the majors this season? He walked a lot of guys (16 in 54 IP) in the Midwest League last season.

    2) What are the chances he is actually 17?

There hasn't been an 18-year-old in the majors since Alex Rodriguez in 1994. There hasn't been a 17-year-old since Larry Dierker in 1964.

I thought David Clyde was still 17 when he debuted - and almost typed that - but he was two months past his 18th birthday when he made his first start.

And I would bet if he makes it there still won't be a 17 year old to make it

According to Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic, Diamondbacks pitcher Patrick Corbin has UCL damage in his elbow and Tommy John surgery has been recommended. Seeking a second opinion.

Add Oakland's Jarrod Parker to the list:

Makes it easy for me not to protect him.

From CBS roto wire: "Diamondbacks starting pitcher Patrick Corbin underwent an MRI Saturday night, which revealed damage to the ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow, the team announced Sunday. Corbin has been scratched from his start this week against the Dodgers in Sydney and will get a second opinion."
