Yes, but how many fielding metrics would be eliminated. What would sabermetricians do with all that free time.

Well, that's out of 15-year-old cluelessness, not a plan.

Jeff Samardzija pitched six shutout innings tonight, split by a one-hour rain delay. He lowered his ERA to 1.45 in 56 IP.

    Still winless.

Buzzing the chin is getting dangerously close to risking devastating injury.

Hitting a homer and flipping the bat is being a badass motherfucker.

    Entirely different.

And yet, Lou Brock never cried about it.

Did Miami win tonight? I now want the Marlins to stay in contention so that your fear and excitement will live on.

Better yet, credit the guy with a hit if he puts the ball in play. Imagine the Little League stats. Then everyone will get a scholarship.

Don't forget the trophy. They got to have the trophy.

Hit a choppy ground ball between two badly placed fielders, congrats you get a hit because you earned it!

Hit the same choppy ground ball and a better-placed fielder lets it clank off his glove? Boo, you didn't earn a hit, you get an ROE!
