I think it's a shrewd move to save your arms. Managers should "develop" one of their utility guys with a decent arm to be able to do that 2-3 times a season.

And yes, I think it is happening a bit more.

With teams carrying 12 and sometimes 13 pitchers on their roster, EVER running out of arms is a case of total game mismanagement.

Unless I missed it, Tommy John surgery was never illegal.

You can certainly make a legitimate argument that baseball should allow the use of at least some of these drugs, but right now MLB does not allow it. That is why using them is cheating.

There is also a considerable difference between treating a disease or injury and pumping chemical enhancements into a healthy body.

Then just look at it as a preventive measure. Still valid.

But enough with your lying and trolling (KIDDING) ...

I know many 'round here don't like him all that much, but one of my heroes nailed this several years ago ...

Cardinals' Rosenthal gives up the tying run against the Cubs, so they're now in extra innings. Rosie's velocity is down this year — 94-96 mph vs. 100+ last year — and he's not getting the swings and misses he got last year. Bodes ill for the rest of the season, and it seems like the beginning of arm problems for Rosenthal. I wouldn't be surprised if he blows out his elbow and has to have TJ surgery at some point, this year or next.

Either way, the Cardinals have fucking sucked so far this season. That's why they don't play the games on paper.

They let Beltran go and then rolled the dice on some youngsters who didn't work out. I don't feel bad for them.

His avg velocity was not 100 last year.

Kevin Gausman's getting his first start of the year for the Orioles, and he may not be quite ready for prime time yet. Detroit's getting to him pretty good.

The Braves played a defensive inning for the blooper reel in the bottom of the second vs. San Francisco today.
