@Alden_Gonzalez: #Angels have just traded Mike Scioscia's son (Matt, a 1B) to the #Cubs for Wayne Gretzky's son (Trevor, an OF).

Would rather this transaction had involved the dads.

And the season begins with the tarp down in Sydney. Unlike Roger Goodell, Bud Selig cannot control the weather.

Totally under the radar stat from '13:

Cishek saved his final 29 opportunities.

From sportsgrid.com: "Cishek converted 34 of 36 saves on a Marlins team that lost 100 games last year. He had a 2.33 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, 26.3 strikeout percentage, 7.8 walk percentage and a 53.1 percent ground ball percentage."

Love looking at below radar players when season ends. For example Padres 2B Jedd Gyorko had 23 HR's
I'd never heard of Gyorko prior to looking at his numbers

Puig goes 3 for 5 with a double and two RBI in his second game. So can we stop doing that now?

Tigers say Max Scherzer turns down an extension that would have paid him $24 million per year. Scherzer and Scott Boras say it was the Tigers who blinked.

Either way, they've tabled talks until after the season, when Scherzer will be a free agent:

29-year-old pitcher whose best season ERA is 2.90 wants $25 million a year? Thinking the Tigers dodged a bullet on that one, particularly if the deal was for a lot of years (as in, more than three). Of course the only limiting factor there is Mike Ilitch's gumption, but it sure looks like he is deciding to turn the money spigot off.

Why would anybody believe Boras? We're supposed to believe this, especially after he claimed Stephen Drew has a 3-year, $39 million offer on the table from some team?

By "we," do you mean his manager?

And Gonzalez yelled at him too for his dumb-ass baserunning.

The bright side is that between this and the newfound fatness, the Dodgers might not have such a tough time deciding which three of their four huge-money outfielders get to play.
