MLB 2018-19 Offseason Thread

    I remember seeing Valbuena when he was with the Indians turn on a pitch at Wrigley and it absolutely sounding like a cannon. For a guy who was around 5-9 and probably 180 pounds, he could turn on a baseball.

    This was kind of surprising to me. If you're going to cut him and eat the money, why not do it after spring training, if he's hurt and gimpy again?

    Man, love the guy but watching him last year for what 2/3rds of the season, then in playoffs, I'd spend $50m on multiple players, offer to take on someone else's bloated contract(s) for prospects rather than this.

    Now owners have a collusion get out of jail free card.

    Why spend 50mil if you are going to spend 400 mil on Harper ?

    Just a guess but they're probably trying to use some of their MLB outfielders (Altherr, although he was awful in 2018, Herrera and Williams) to trade for pitching along with trying to sign Harper. So just getting Harper wasn't going to be enough.
