MLB 2018-19 Offseason Thread

The longer this drags on with Harper, the more I think he ends up at Wrigley. Story I heard is he was always going to give the Cubs the last chance.

 

If the Cubs aren't tapped out, they're doing one heck of a job of bluffing.

 

Why doesn't Harper just throw out a deadline for final sealed bids? And maybe he accepts one - or doesn't.

 

I'm guessing that Theo has been in Ricketts' ear through this entire process knowing that Philly was going to screw this up (which they have) and has been promising him multiple rings if he opens up the checkbook.

 

What if they’re all too low for him and Boras?

Then if he doesn't, why would the teams be willing to do the sealed bid process?

 

Because they think one of them might end up with him?

 

They already can think that. The teams are already wary of overbidding, so they’re not going to want to be rushed into making a bid they may not want to make.

MLB, MLBPA Propose 3-Batter Minimum for Pitchers, Universal DH

 

Neither is a bad proposal. I'm not partial to the universal DH, if only because I grew up watching pitchers bat in the NL, but I LOVE the 3-batter minimum.
