Universal DH in 2019 would spur the signing of all those power hitter corner outfielders who are currently out of work. Seems like a quick turn around for NL teams to add DHs.

How many of those players do you actually want to go to a ballpark to watch swing the bat?

Not many, but most NL teams keep an extra pitcher or versatile type players in the 25th spot and don’t have DH types on their rosters

    May not be amused.

That isn't the only issue to be considered. To me, the greatest advantage of a universal DH is that we would have the same rules in both leagues. I have always found it absurd that MLB only has a different set of rules for each league. Correcting that alone is worth making the change.

Hate the 3 batter minimum. And universal rules are best. Keep the DH for every league or no league. We’ve had the DH for 45 years, about half the modern era. It’s not a fad anymore

I've made my peace with the DH. I'd be interested to see how this three-batter minimum rule would play out. That could conceivably make for some interesting double-switch/late-game lineup strategy.

With adoption of the DH, the double switch disappears.

Three-batter minimum? What the fuck is this, a T-ball league? Why not just make a rule that every player gets to bat at least once and stop keeping score? For fuckee's sake.

Should they mandate dimensions of the playing fields as well?

Slippery-slope arguments are lame as hell.

That's a fair counterpoint, but what is the practical downside of having a universal rule regarding the DH? There are practical issues to requiring the same dimensions in every ballpark.
