It currently stands at .333/.378/.619. Ohtani's OPS is 997 through 45 plate appearances.

To answer Dickie's question, Ohtani's ERA is 4.43, which is not great, but it certainly isn't awful for a 23-year-old rookie after his fourth major-league start. Even after a rough night, his WHIP is 1.13 and his FIP is 3.86. I do believe Dickie is a big proponent of FIP as a real measure of how well a pitcher is doing. To be fair, K-rate plays a large part in that and Ohtani is striking out 11.5 batters per nine innings.

Now figure in that one of his four starts was ruined by a blister that left him unable to control anything but his fastball before being yanked early and you realize his numbers as a pitcher are impressive. Funny how, in this case, Dickie was only interested in ERA given that he loves to go deeper in his evaluation of other pitchers. I wonder why that is?
