Pretty sure Dick acknowledged the scouts' spectacular wrongness the last time this came up, after I noted that it was now May and past the start of the season.

    Fair 'nuff

My 23-year old son came over for dinner last night, and when he saw me wearing my Ohtani shirt, he rolled his eyes, like 'my dad is a child'.

I missed it then. I denounce myself.

    Correct.

My argument regarding Ohtani's readiness for the major leagues was always restricted to a determination based upon his first 19 plate appearances.

Keep in mind there are so many threads and sub-threads to this argument that it gets confusing at times:

    1. Ohtani as a pitcher
    a. Ready for the major leagues at the start of the season?
    b. "Good" pitcher?

    2. Ohtani as a hitter
    a. Ready for the major leagues at the start of the season?
    b. "Good" hitter?

    Earnest post, complaints, etc.

Add that to the list of words I hate.

I never watch spring training, and what I know about baseball isn't a ton, but I started watching this guy at the beginning of the regular season, and I was just blown away by his talent. Blown away.

It seemed the consensus was that he was a better pitching prospect than a hitting prospect, but so far it has seemed the other way around.

It will be interesting to see how they handle him in the postseason. You have to get him in the lineup every day, right, assuming he's even 70 percent, long-term, the hitter he has shown so far?

My guess is that he will be starting a one game wc playoff on the mound in either Boston or New York.

His era is mundane, but his peripherals and stuff are off the charts.

His strikeouts are. He walks too many people. But I don't know how much of that was from the blister game, off the top of my head.

Yet he is their second best hitter, on a good team. That includes two first ballot HOFers.

Jesus H Christ, this is crazy that we are discussing this.

It's way too early for this definitely, but I have been thinking about it too. What if say he's a top 20 hitter and a top 20 pitcher? That's going to throw "valuable" on its head.
