That possibility is what I had in mind when I wrote that maybe the ballot is far enough away for things to change.

 

Is this for real? If there was no such thing as PEDs, or rather, if their use had never become public knowledge, Robinson Cano, fine player, would never ever have gotten a Hall vote from yours truly.

You guys are wrong. He was a lock, and a deserved one at that. First ballot. 85 percent or more.

 

This system incorporates both career WAR and peak WAR. He’s seventh.

Eight-time All-Star. Five consecutive top six MVP finishes. Career leader in home runs by a second baseman. Multiple Gold Gloves.

And he’s still hitting.

On the merits, he is a shoo-in.

No debate from me.

Except that he snuck up on us.

 

Not sure Top 6 in MVP finishes -- 3, 4, 6, 5, 5 -- isn't much to hang one's hat on. Top 3 maybe, probably.

Nobody cares about the guy who finishes 4th, 5th or 6th.

 

MLB already had zero credibility. They already had a player get run over by a random car on the field and allowed unsafe fences which decapitated a player.

 

It indicates sustained excellence.

 

Yes, he was very good for those 5 years.
