So you think the validity of the declaration "He’s not going to be ready as either a pitcher or hitter when the season starts." is still in play?

A lot of very bad players have had very good first weeks.

He'll cool off. I don't think he'll be peak Bryce Harper as a hitter and peak Max Scherzer as a pitcher for the entire season.

But I think we can safely dismiss the preseason notions that he'd be overmatched by MLB pitching.

I especially love shit like this where a sportswriter acts like an expert on the mechanics of batting. "I have watched him extensively." L-O-Fucking-L. Barry Bloom doesn't know jack shit about what works at the plate in the major leagues. Nor do I or anyone else on this board, but we're not being the horse's asses declaring that this guy is overwhelmed.

You may want to revisit the definition of "ready" if you want to argue this further.

I think we can safely dismiss the preseason notions that Giancarlo Stanton is going to be worth a damn.

"He’s not going to be ready as either a pitcher or hitter when the season starts."

That seems conclusively wrong, whatever happens from this point forward.

So he started the season with 19 plate appearances. Was he ready?

He got a base hit the first pitch he saw in the major leagues.

But, yes, the Orlando Bloom #HotTake is on life support as compared to the Jeff Passan #HotTake.
