I think it’s fun. I like knowing more about stuff, not less.

LOL and as I stated, Rickey Henderson isn't one of 2 final players to be chosen.

Produce a realistic set of players who would be the final 2 picks.

Is there any evidence that, prior to what we might call the “Moneyball” era, RBI actually factored in to the team-construction process?

Oh god yes. There has to be. You a little older than me. That's all I used to hear about.

Oh sure, but that’s what you hear. Don’t forget that there’s the rhetoric and there’s the reality.

I don't have a lexisnexis, but I am sure one could find old school gms during press conferences talking about the Don Baylors and their massive RBIs.

I think it would be pretty funny if you walked into your class next time it convenes and wrote a question on the chalkboard:

Who would you rather have as your final pick between these 2 baseball players:

    Player A -- .350 wOBA with 70 RBIs

    Player B -- .300 wOBA with 110 RBIs

Support your answer with statistical analysis. You have till Friday.

And then you walk out of the classroom.

See what millennial college kids come up with when they're thrown a curve.

From a professorial point of which I bet the answers would be pretty funny.

Wrong*. That was actually during the moneyball era.

*actually, that is a great example.

It is the kind of decision GMs have to make all the time.

    I don't doubt it.

But they're not making a decision on wOBA compared to RBIs.

Trout, Judge, and Votto were the only players above .430 wOBA last year.

None of those 3 are going to be among the final 2 players chosen to a team.

Oh sure ... that still wouldn’t mean that’s why they made those moves.
