Here is a bit of what Merrifield is thinking, though he is injured anyway.

Royals president says Whit Merrifield 'sorry' for saying he would have gotten vaccinated for a contender

They suffered a massive disadvantage the last two seasons, but isn't it an advantage for them this season? They keep facing teams missing key players.

Unless something changed, neither Judge nor Rizzo are vaxxed.

Yes, I'd agree with that, not that it helped last night.

OTOH, the Blue Jays were 29-20 (.592) in their stay at Sahlen Field. They have exceeded that winning percentage just twice in their history, in 1985 and in 1993.

The team was disadvantaged logistically, but apparently not competitively.

They also couldn’t sign or trade for anyone that was unvaccinated.

There were rumblings up here they were interested in Benitendi (they need pitching not outfielders) but that's obviously off the table now.

Which, of course, makes one wonder why Judge and Rizzo would reverse course and get their vaccination while these 10 Royals dug their spikes in the ground.

Is there any correlation with the standings? (Well, I mean Whit Merrifield made it clear that there was for him, anyway.)

Loved those A's hats. One of the rare teams that never had the city name on their uniform, just the "A."
