I'm in my 50s and I have been hearing asinine owners statements since I was a kid. I've never even heard of this Reds president before yesterday, and I have no ties to the Reds. But that comment, the gall of it, strikes me as about the worst I've heard. Never a clearer indication of what owners think of fans, and owning a team. It sickens me.

How dare you bunt with a 9-run lead. Much better to swing with both ass cheeks and try to launch one to Oakland and celebrate with a bat flip.

Anyone who complains about teams bunting up nine should be forced to watch a replay of that Sunday night game in 2001 when a crappy Cleveland team rallied from down 14-2 in the seventh inning against one of the greatest baseball teams of all-time.

    Never take anything for granted.

Given the celebration Cincinnati puts on for opening day, I wondered when I saw the words in “print” if he was drunk.

All it was missing was a Nick Castellanos drive to left field.

Giants coach: Shildt expletive 'reeked' of racism

I find this story interesting. It appears that what he found offensive, and perhaps racially tinged, was that Shildt yelled "you need to control that motherfucker" in reference to him As a white guy who's lived essentially his whole life in suburbs I'm certainly not going to think I should tell Richardson what he should be feeling about this; given the language generally used by pro athletes the "control" part of it must have made it worse in his eyes than simply getting "motherfucked" would be. I would be surprised to learn that that epithet standing alone bears any racial meaning.

Unwritten rules. Like a tennis player apologizing to his opponent for a let cord on a serve. LOL

Want a good story on that? I was a Tribe fan back then and moving between apartments. The soonest the cable could get to me was weeks down the road and, it being 2001, there were no smart phones and most computers were still on dial up. But, as luck would have it, I interned at a sports radio station that handed these out to all of us as thank yous. I think they were down 11-0 and I stopped paying attention to the updates. Then it slowly started losing its mind as the deficit narrowed, until the point that I just kept staring at it until it showed final.

And that Indians team won 91 games that year. It was the following season they lit it on fire.

Something I saw on teh Twitterez today, and, yeah, I'm considering the source. Is it true there is no more 163rd game tiebreaker, and run differential (ala World Cup opening round) is now the tiebreaker?

Nothing at all through 6, with 12 Ks. 69 pitches.
