Having those two perfectly valid and sensible thoughts in your head simultaneously is a great example of cognitive dissonance. For some folks, this condition can cause anxiety and strife. for others it is a source of introspection and self-examination.

I have a third thought to add to the dissonance here; it is very simply stated:

    3. 4,256 base hits.

I hope you're not suggesting Grey Poupon is replacement-level mustard!

Mustard was too yellow for the big leagues.

Can’t blame the Guardians for tying to ketchup.

Worse than his value over his Latin American replacement Mostaza Picante.

I think I would've legged out a triple with Value Over Replacement Poupon.

My first thought about Heyward was that the guy has been in decline for about a decade.

Then I looked at his career stats, and the fact is that he never was that special. Two seasons over 20 home runs. One season over 80 RBI. .406 career slugging.

Thirteen seasons -- never an all-star. Not once. And I want the names of the three guys who are going to give him a HofF vote, because you know it's gonna happen.
