Andre Dawson: “It’s funny how the commissioner usually appears to be quite uncomfortable, almost as if he knows what is forthcoming. That’s kind of the fun part about it.

“I read (Rod Carew’s) article. He pretty much nailed it right on the head. It appeared like (Manfred thought), ‘Hey, I need to wrap this up and get out of here as quickly as possible because it’s headed in a direction that doesn’t look pretty.’ That’s kind of the way it’s been the last couple of years.”

Rosenthal: Rod Carew has something to say on the state of baseball. And he said it to Rob Manfred.

In this case, it came after a player dropped a pop up in foul ground that would have ended it. Arkansas CWS syndrome.

Tigers have scored six or more runs in four consecutive games for the first time in FOUR SEASONS. Then the bullpen takes a 9-0 lead and makes it 9-8 before Joe Jimenez mercifully shuts the door. Gregory Soto is as good as Aroldis Chapman, my left butt cheek.

    Dodgers are on track to:
    * Post the best team ERA (2.833) by anybody since 1972.
    * Win 113 games, the most by any team since the 2001 Mariners (116).
    * Have the highest per-game run differential since the 1939 Yankees.
