Shohei's first inning: Walk, strikeout, double play. Nothing else since then through 7 innings. 9 strikeouts, 87 pitches. 4-0 Angels now batting in the bottom of the 7th.

Conner Capel singles to deep shortstop with two outs in the eighth. Followed by another single.

M’s win an 11-inning slugfest with Texas, clinch a tie for their first playoff berth in 21 years.

Seattle has been helped greatly by the Orioles running out of gas and the White (flag-waving) Sox collapse.

I'm on record saying Judge should be the MVP. But Ohtani might make people think more critically about it.

After Thursday's game against Oakland, he has a 14-game hitting streak. He is batting .275 with 34 homers and 94 RBIs.
On the mound, he is 15-8 with a 2.35 ERA. He has 213 strikeouts in 161 innings and a 1.03 WHIP. Batters are hitting .207 against him.

He had a no-hitter (one walk) with two outs in the eighth after spending the entire bottom of the seventh on base. He led off the inning with an infield single and had reached third by the time the inning ended. He lost the no-hitter on an infield single, then allowed another hit on a soft liner to left. His last start should be the final game of the season, also against Oakland.

He’s the best player in baseball. Break that down, what would those numbers cost individually on the open market?

    60 million per?

I still think Judge is the MVP this year, but I’ll absolutely listen to the argument for Ohtani winning the Cy Young.

I know that would be viewed by many as a consolation prize but I think it would add more to his greatness that he could win MVP one year and Cy Young in another

Why? His strikeout rate is insane, but Verlander has been the better pitcher this year.

Don’t disagree. Just saying I’d listen to the argument.

Ohtani's the best baseball player in the history of baseball players. What he's doing this year and what he did last year has never been done before and I'm not going to say it will never be done again, because there's someone out there that's going to be the next Ohtani, but you have an ace pitcher wrapped up in a middle-of-the-order bat. I'm sorry, Judge could be putting up Bonds in 04 numbers and I'd still vote Ohtani. Imagine the kind of stuff he has to do behind-the-scenes, the toll that pitching 160 innings and preparing for Major League hitters and pitchers on a nightly basis takes. It's very hard for me to see any argument for Judge and from what I can gather, most people think he's a shoo-in. Ohtani should be the MVP every year
