It will also be interesting to see what happens with Hinch in the (near?) future. Apparently he's got some kind of opt-out in his deal and I'd venture to guess there will be suitors out there with better teams that may be willing to throw some serious money at him after his rehabilitation tour has proven successful. And, also apparently, he has an interest in perhaps sitting in the GM chair one day... although with Detroit, it's likely he's got the best of both worlds and a strong hand in the moves the front office makes.

Just a note to say I went to Yankee Stadium for Mothers Day, first game since 2008. Have to say, walking in for the first time I got the same emotional feeling from Opening Day in 1976. Got a teachers discount on field level seats about 12 rows back 3/4 down the left field line. Not nearly a sell-out, but stopped trying to find the attendance figures. Visited Monument Park, always moving. There's a plaque commemorating the Stonewall Riot, so Yankees covering all NYC bases. Low-scoring game so crowd got more interested in doing The Wave. Ate at Marcus Samuelsson's Street Chicken, I remember when he played wing for the Rangers. $13.99 for mildly spicy juicy chicken fingers. Our bags weren't searched, so we could have brought food. Didn't stay for the second game. The place is BIG and they play between-innings music at ear-splitting levels, not my cup of baklava.

Hinch was assured the Tigers would spend when he took the job
I’m sure Baez and Rodriguez would not have been signed if AJ didn’t approve

I never heard of Naylor before seeing him in a four-game series against the Angels last week. How is that fat guy a major-leaguer (yeah, Vogelbach, too)? I don't know if he had more GIDPs or Ks.

The .338 batting average with four home runs and 21 RBI in 19 games helps. He got a late start to the season because he was coming back from a nasty ankle injury, a closed fracture and dislocation that ended his 2021 season. Obviously, I don't expect him to keep hitting like that, but Naylor actually has some ability as a hitter.

Here is a link to video of the injury. It is not pleasant to watch. Just coming back from that alone makes me root for the guy.

Yankee Stadium was visible looking out centerfield at the Polo Grounds by design.

I ask this in all seriousness: I take it they hosted polo matches at the Polo Grounds? Was it a big draw back in the day? And, as long as I’m being too lazy to use teh googles machine - when was the day if indeed there was one for polo in NYC?
