CFB has supplied the model here, as well as the NL from 1969 to 1995 and today's NFC East. No devotion to geography.

The NFL also had this problem. The Baltimore Colts were in the West from their arrival in 1953 through 1966. Won the most important game in NFL history as a member of the West.

Recall when baseball went to two divisions in each league in 1969, the Cubs were in the NL East and the White Sox the AL West.

The NFL had an odd structure just before the merger. The Central, Capitol, Century and Coastal, which is how the Colts got lumped in with the Falcons, Rams and 49ers.

Heck, for many years. Chicago was both in the East and the West. In both the NFL and MLB.

The NFL was trying to highlight their Leaders and Legends.

Exactly. They'll be lucky to get the equivalent of three starting pitcher seasons from this deal.

Snell has gone 180 innings twice. The highest after that is 128.2.

When he's healthy, he can dominate-ish, but his best ability sure as shit isn't availibilty.

    I'm done underestimating Blake Snell.
    • When he takes the mound, he is a shutdown guy. If he doesn't slot in as the No. 1 starter (Ohtani?), then he's the best No. 2 in the game.
    • He went past 100 pitches four times in 2024, including a complete game.
    • Eleven (11) of his last 14 starts, he allowed zero or one earned run.
    I'd pay for him.

I like that we’re discussing money and value. It’s the Dodgers. You just pay him so nobody else can have him. If he pans out, great.

The irony is that Snell signed so early this year vs. coming in at the last second this past season. It’s sure to help him prepare better for the season.
