I don’t know if anyone hit a ball in Fenway where Judge just did

I guess Seranthony got there in the nick of time.

    Or an inning too early.

470 feet to dead center. Looks like he just missed hitting it off the scoreboard.

Because nobody has ever hit a ball out of Fenway.

But seriously, it's fair to wonder if a ball has ever been hit in that particular spot in a game.
It's also fair to point out that MLB's favorite team lost again.

The Guardians remain a mystery. Complete dog crap for two weeks and then stroll into Philly and beat the Phillies. The pitching is still great, but that offense means a quick playoff exit if they don’t go get a bat.

The ugly truth: Henderson has been horsecrap since before the All-Star break. Rutschman too, for that matter.

    Carlos Estevez to the Phillies.

    Jazz Chisholm to the Yankees.

Somewhere in my old Baseball Abstracts is one with a chapter in it about the early 1980s Twins, who came out of nowhere to contend briefly in 1984, then fell back for two years before getting better and winning two World Series in 1987 and 1991. He essentially said (IIRC) that the young core of the team (Puckett, Hrbek, Brunansky, Gaietti, Viola) overachieved early, fell back, and then developed into the above-average (great, in Kirby's case) players they would be.

The Twins also added some key role players to that core, guys like Gladden, Davis, Mack, Bush, Larkin, Laudner, Morris, Aguillera, etc.

Maybe that's what the O's are going through. They are what, 2-3 years removed from more than 100 losses?

Of course I suspect replacing Billy Gardner with Tom Kelly helped a bit too.
