That name didn't really ring a bell so I just looked him up. Damn. That's a sad tale.

Trevor Rogers does not miss many bats.

Coby Mayo is going to be 0-for-16 by night’s end. With a two-out error that puts the Jays ahead for good.

Doesn't matter. Can't win anything with the starting pitching as currently constituted. I'm not discounting a Rangers'-like run once the postseason actually starts, but the Orioles simply don't have enough arms to win the AL East at this point.

They will be one hell of a lot better with a three-man rotation than a five-man. I'll give 'em that.

I mean, assuming Grayson is fine and is back healthy for October, you could do worse than Burnes-GRod-Eflin. They're also one bad skid away from being in danger of missing the playoffs altogether. My level of concern for that is fairly small right now, but it's there. It's been a rough month and a half.

Though it's quite nice to see Holliday continue to rebound in his second stint. This is who we thought he was.

Tony Taters, the man can play a little defense too. Sheesh.

EDIT: Robs Guerrero of a homer, then leads off the next inning with a dong. That's good eatin'

Bombs from each side of the plate tonight. Santander has been on a torrid stretch for a while now. Probably the one most responsible for them still being neck-and-neck with NY.

I'm rather glad that Burch Smith lines up for the W if they hang on. He's been quietly solid.

In a good pitching matchup between Skubal and Kirby, once again it’s coming down to defense as Detroit leads Seattle.

The Mariners’ sloppy defense helped the Tigers win the series opener, and tonight Detroit CF Parker Meadows leaped well above the centerfield wall to rob Cal Raleigh of a two-run homer, keeping his team ahead 3-2 in the bottom of the eighth.

Then the newest M’s reliever walks the first two hitters to start the ninth and they both score. Ballgame.

Nothing happened for 26 outs Tuesday night and nary a peep.
