I know the Mariners can't hit. But if they make it, I don't think people will be excited about facing that starting pitching staff.

It looks like the Dodgers blew out another arm. Rookie River Ryan was on his way to a third impressive start in four appearances since being called up when he was pulled from his start tonight with forearm tightness.

Tigers are so bad that Giants’ cleanup hitter goes 0-4 w 4Ks leaving about 10 runners on and Tigers still lose.

Craig Kimbrel could get DFA'd tonight, and I wouldn't bat an eye.

    He has reached the end.

When can he be trusted? He has slumps and Hyde eases him back. Worked the first time. It ain’t working anymore. If he were to get it together, the pattern would dictate another slump in ….. October.

Yankees got a closer problem too. Clay Holmes is an issue.

    Cool Jewish baseball news
    • RHP Max Lazar (Phillies) not only makes impressive MLB debut in 11-1 loss to Diamondbacks but becomes part of Jewish baseball lore. The 6’3″ closer, who will go on to record 1.1 scoreless innings, is on mound across from C Garrett Stubbs in 8th inning when Arizona DH Joc Pederson comes to plate, thus completing rare Jewish troika. Lazar strikes out veteran slugger on 6 pitches, finally retiring him with 93.2-mph, four-seam fastball that dodges swinging bat. According to Jewish Baseball Museum editor Bob Wechsler, the pitcher-catcher-batter combo has occurred only two other times since first Jewish major-leaguer debuted in 1871. On May 2, 1951, pinch-hitter Lou Limmer (Philadelphia Athletics) got best of 9th-inning faceoff against RHP Saul Rogovin and C Joe Ginsberg of Detroit Tigers, smacking 2-run HR that tied game, but Detroit went on to win 5-4 in 10 innings. The second Jewish trinity arose on August 15, 2013, when LHP Craig Breslow (Boston Red Sox) struck out LF Kevin Pillar (Toronto Blue Jays) swinging on 5 pitches, with C Ryan Lavarnway behind plate. Boston went on to win 2-1, and Lavarnway finished day 2-for-4 (8/10/2024)
