Javy. Baez. Munoz hadn't given up a hit since July 4, according to the broadcast? Except that pitch was actually in the strike zone and Baez found it. Wow.

Narrator: She did not have a Grimace-like effect on the scuffling ballclub.

And how could it be implemented without union approval?

    One G-D hit.

If not for an outfielder’s somewhat questionable decision to dive for a ball rather than keep it in front of him last week, the Tigers win all six games against Seattle.

Absolutely. They would dig their heels in against that.

That is wild. First non-pitcher but still interesting.

I mentioned that elsewhere, and an old sportswriter friend pointed out something. The current contract language allows for Manfred to unilaterally institute rule changes with 45 days notice.

Or, to quote my buddy, "Bobby F could decide to turn the horsehides florescent green and with 45 days notice, there's nothing the PA can do about it." ("F," of course, is short for "Fuckhead.")

The union would go straight to the NLRB, OSHA the federal courts charging an unsafe labor practice. Pretty sure an injunction would follow. Years and years of litigation on the human elbow! That'll bring the fans back to the old ball yard. I think the owners will stifle this idea themselves before it sees the light of day. Being on the hook for damages for every arm surgery from 2025 to God knows when is not a happy prospect. Sure MLB could win the suit. But the risk of losing makes it not worth the while.
