And he does it in a game where he goes 5-for-5, 2 HR, 2 SB, 7 RBI.

You've got to be fucking kidding me.

55-55 is almost a lock, if he had an extra week I'd say 60-60 would be in play.

And he is a foot shy of a cycle, as he was thrown out at third going for a triple.

I think it's safe to ask if this is the greatest baseball player we'll ever see.

And I do believe we might see another 50/50 guy. Acuna was a 40/70 guy last year.

But none of those 50/50 guys is a Cy Young candidate (when healthy)

He's at least an eight-tool player.

One more from me -- Ohtani is the first Dodger to hit 50 home runs in a season, passing Shawn Green, who had 49 in 2001. Duke Snider with 43 in 1956 was the most in Brooklyn.

This post didn't age well, as once again, the Giants snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

    This can't be real.

This is create-a-player video game stuff.

I saw Ohtani had gotten to 50 SBs so I was thinking well those 2 HRs could weigh on him, then I just checked ESPN and damn what a game. Amazing. While yes, Acuna went 40/70 last year, the leap from 40 to 50 is gargantuan (except for Judge). Glad Ohtani's made 2024 a memorable season (even if he's a Dodger.)

100% true. It's really impressive to make the playoffs -- even though watered down by wild card expansion -- six times in seven years when your market is among the smallest in the game.
