I think I just tripped upon MLB's most faceless team, and they're playing around Randy Arozarena.

    A's better than the Rays?

The A's are plucky. I didn't think the Orioles losing a series to them at home was a bad loss because it was Oakland, but because of the way it happened with the bullpen blowing things on Sunday.

Speaking of Baltimore, Grayson Rodriguez to the IL today with right shoulder soreness. Hopefully it's minor. Means is back in the rotation.

Suddenly the American League Central has four teams with winning records. Yes, it's May 1. Yes, they've all feasted on the poor White Sox. But FOUR WINNING RECORDS.

The Rays-Brewers "fight" was weird. The plunking was textbook. Peralta clearly took something off his fastball, hit Siri in the meat of his thigh. I'm all for players being able to "celebrate" AND players able to get "payback." It makes the game more interesting.

The one-month mark seems like a good time for a quick check-in:

    GOOD AS ADVERTISED
Orioles, Yankees, Braves, Phillies, Brewers, Dodgers

    SLIGHTLY SURPRISINGLY GOOD
    Cubs, Mariners, Guardians, Red Sox

    VERY SURPRISINGLY GOOD
    Royals, Tigers

    PLUCKY
    A's, Nationals

    MEH
Mets, Rangers, Reds, Blue Jays, Twins, Giants

    DISAPPOINTING
    Rays, Cardinals, Angels, Diamondbacks, Padres

BACK TO BEING BAD AS EXPECTED
    Pirates

    SURPRISINGLY BAD
    Astros

    TOTAL SMELLY ASS
    Marlins, White Sox, Rockies

Yeah, I wanted to move them out of MEH for the nine-game winning streak, but not quite yet. Still fourth in their division.

As a delusional Mets fan, I'd like to upgrade them from "Meh" to a new category, "Maybe they ain't so fucking bad after all."

Very good rotation. Excellent bullpen. Starting to hit. Above .500 after an 0-5 start and have played about the toughest schedule in baseball.

This clears the way for them to give me more hope in May, before they go 8-21 in June and once again make me wonder why I root for those bums.

Twins are playing well (albeit against White Sox and Angels) . . . but Byron Buxton did not want to fall behind Mike Trout in the "Insanely Talented Centerfielder Who Unfortunately Is Always Hurt" competition and left today's game with knee pain.

Buxton had it all, too. Five-tool.
