Severino has been great, but it always feels like he's held together with duct tape. Manaea is walking the ballpark. Hard to figure Butto, who is better than previous regimes seemed to think, but is he a 30-start guy? Quintana was great Sunday but it's hard to expect more than five or six innings out of him most nights. Houser is the new Jeff D'Amico minus the two good months to start the season. As for the other options, Megill has been terrible since the combined no-hitter. Peterson seems to be a swingman at best. I never understood why they won't give Lucchesi a longer shot, he was quite solid for them last year. They'll really benefit if Scott can have a few good starts before Senga comes back.

I realized the way to know if you are too into baseball is if your weather app is checked more often for rain in the city your team is playing in than the one you live.

Sounds like summer in California. No need to check for rain because the answer is it won’t be.

Ignorant Cali guy, I was looking at my in-laws backyard back East in summer the first visit and said “you’ve got a great lawn and all these trees, but I don’t see any sprinkler system, how do you water them?”

When my FIL said “it rains” I was flummoxed.

I think the Royals are pretty good. Pretty well balanced club.

There’s something about watching afternoon baseball on a brand new 65 inch television with a giant cold beer that makes me smile.

I think the Royals are good now. In a couple years, I think they could be really good.

Can confirm. Orioles and Royals played six times already. Baltimore won four of them but two were walkoffs where the Os rallied from 3-0 down late so it could have easily gone the other way. I was impressed. I don't think they're going anywhere. They also have the best run differential in baseball, though it helps when you have wins of 11-0, 10-1, 11-2 and 13-3. Shit, that's 39 of their plus-50 right there. They can punish you.

Royals are impressive solely b/c they are actually trying. They went out and got solid veteran guys b/c dudes like Lugo & Wacha can change the culture a little bit. It helps, of course, to have Bobby fucking Witt Jr. and ageless Salvador Perez.

I give Salvy 2…..maybe 3 years tops. 14…15 years as a catcher is a lifetime.
