That was an incredible meltdown even by their standards. They are a terrible team and there's not much light at the end of the tunnel. Hard to believe how good they were a couple years ago.

And they still choked away the division even when then were good in 2022.

Edwin Diaz appear to be broken again.... or maybe his two years of dominance was just a fluke.

I'm still in favor of re-signing Alonso, because that kind of power doesn't come along very often.... but I'll hear arguments if you can get a good haul at the deadline.

Cleveland should call and ask how much salary Stevie Cohen would eat to get Lindor back in Cleveland.

And no, Andres Gimenez is not coming back in exchange.

He's not going to bring back much of anything. He's an impending free agent, he's been slumping for two years (his OPS since the start of 2023 is .808, down from .884 from 2019-22) and Stearns and his genius peers have successfully devauled the power hitter.

M’s showing some late-inning life against a talented Baltimore bullpen.

If Ty France can regain his offensive spark from a couple years ago it would greatly help the often flailing Seattle lineup.

    Mets: Give us Gimenez.
    Guardians: No.
Mets: Fine. We'll sell you Lindor for pennies on the dollar and just trade for Gimenez when he becomes too expensive for you! Suckers!

    (Fast forward to 2032)
Mets: Give us (whomever they gave up for Gimenez, who was promptly signed thru 2040 by Steve Cohen).
    Guardians: No.
Mets: Fine. We'll sell you Gimenez for pennies on the dollar and just trade for (whomever they gave up for Gimenez) when he becomes too expensive for you! Suckers!

Giants become the last team to go on a 3-game winning streak. Some how this includes be Rockies and the other dreck. On the plus side, Matos may be a stud in the making. Let’s see what happens when the league adjusts but right now he’s as hot as Hansel right now.

After batting in the 13th inning, the Angels are 0 for 18 with runners in scoring position, tying a team record set 50 years ago. Tuesday, they were 0 for 14 vs. St. Louis, including a failed squeeze that had the manager criticizing the player who couldn't properly bunt. The Rangers are 1 for 10 with RISP. The hit resulted in the runner being thrown out at home. It's 2-2 in the bottom of the 13th.
Game ends on a bases-loaded HBP.

So last night the Angels had their once-in-each-series really good game, winning handily. Tonight, they blew a very winnable game. If the seasonal trend should hold, they'll probably lose 10-0 on Sunday.

With a win tomorrow against Detroit, the Royals will have their 30th win before their 20th loss.

I don't know, Coco. If that bullpen is what we thought it would be, they're not looking for a closer in the next two months -- which I'm pretty sure they are. It really seems like somebody along the line blows up every other game. It might be Cano one night; it might be the severely overworked Jacob Webb the next.

This lack of length from the starters is going to bite them in September.

In other news, MASN's Rob Long reports that Jackson Holliday has been working out in CF. If true, I wonder if Jorge Mateo's recent play has something to do with that.
