I'm sure that Buster Posey feels really great about having the manager basically say that he thinks he's such a butcher behind the plate that he can't handle a knuckleballer for two or three innings.

LaRussa just cemented his spot as manager of the All-Jerk team.

Oh, he had that just from leaving Greinke off.

Ah, but last weekend when the Giants were honoring their 2002 World Seris team, they replayed the whole Kenny Lofton affair in Game 1 of the NLCS. For LaRussa, it's a lifetime achievement award.

I hate it when the media gets things wrong.

The last time a Washington team led the standings on July 4 was 1933. The operative phrase right now in D.C. is “Natitude,” and a lot of it is thanks to Harper.

    Uh, or in 2005

Nats fell hard that year but they didn't fall out of first until late July

Overall, his point is well taken. Harper's had the hype since the SI cover days, Trout has not. Trout clearly earned a spot on the team. I'm not sure Harper has earned that spot, but he is going. I haven't heard anyone here claim Harper is better than Trout. Just that he's awfully good and has been exactly what this team needed. That doesn't discredit Trout in any way.

I haven't seen it, but I heard your DC competition did a point-counterpoint package on Harper-Trout. How did that turn out??

I haven't it seen it yet either (ashamed to say) but I also haven't looked for anything this weekend. Will check it out and let you know.
