T.R. kicked ass when he was in Fort Worth. One of the best in the business. I'm not sure if the paper has maintained that or not, I see it sometimes and sometimes not - but the Startlegram kicks the Morning News' ass in Mavs and Cowboys coverage.

If you just want to be able to see what's going on around the majors every day, I'd suggest reading Buster Olney's blog on ESPN.com. He will have at least one link from every team, and if two of the major papers in a market have different stories, he'll sometimes link to both of them.

Take a look at the team pages on Sports Illustated's Web site. They aggregate stories from multiple sources and usually do a good job of linking to papers beyond just the major metros. If there's a suburban daily that staffs a team, their stories will usually show up there. May not qualify as the "best" coverage, but it's a quick and easy way to see links to multiple sources.

  4. Baltimore Sun for the O's. I don't know why you'd want to read about them though.

Maybe he wants to read about their race with the Devil Rays to finish fourth in the East.

  6. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's David O'Brien does a pretty good job covering the Braves. Chipper Jones has been known to come onto his blog and post comments.

I second the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel for Brewers coverage. And be sure to check out Tom Haudricourt's blog. He does an amazing job with it.

After two months of subscribing to "The Mag" I finally activated my INsider account today. I'm looking forward to the blog.
