Let's review the bidding. Eric Brynes, a guy who cost the A's one playoff series because he forgot to touch home plate, is an "expert" analyst on ESPN? Holy smokes! He's a heady ballplayer all right.

I'm not going to put the Dodgers' loss on Brad Penny.

Kent's head was up his ass, so was Rich Donnelly.

As powerful as the Mets appeared, the Dodgers were able to score runs. Series isn't over yet.

The rain spared us a night of Joe Morgan's brilliance, but it also cost us a night of Bonnie Bernstein.

It has crossed over from hero worship to a full blown obsession. It has to stop for the sake of the country. We can't be productive if we spend our entire day adoring a baseball player.

But what's behind it? Yeah, he went 5 for 5 and has provided all-time moments in the playoffs. But why has the lovefest been elevated like this? Is it to counter-balance the steroids fiasco? To show kids fans that an honest game's work wins out every time? There's an ulterior motive going on with the Jerek cum-a-thon. Yeah, he's proven himself on the biggest stage. But still ...

Turn the sound down this afternoon _ it's Miller-Morgan for the Tigers-Yankees, then Berman in San Diego. Time to grab the XM.

They can't start the game because Bonnie Bernstein is on the field. Yankee fans are booing, but Jon Miller is saying they're saying "Moose" for Mussina.

I never like watching TV with the XM providing the audio, because usually the XM is far behind the TV feed, and it gets disconcerting.

    OK, now they're saying "Moose."

I miss Jim Leyland firing up a smoke in the dugout.

Mr. October with an error already. But I'm sure A-Rod's to blame for that.

EDIT -- Uh oh, A-Rod swings at the first two pitches with two outs and the bases loaded, then goes down looking on the third pitch.

What's funny is no one will hate on Jeter for making an error that put Sheffield's bad wrist into the line of a running Casey and then Jeter tried to bunt and popped it up. Oh, and in his second at bat he went ahead and made an out with two runners on as well.

I timed it the other night. It was between 3 and 4 minutes. Let's stop with the crying. If an opposing pitcher can't take that, he's a fucking pussy. Hell, Wang had to sit in the dugout while the Yanks put up a five-spot on Robertson and it didn't seem to bother him much. Anybody who believes a 3-minute delay bothers a Major League Baseball pitcher is an idiot.
