HB...I'm creating a new TV show.... Called The Nine II ... About the people on this board with a brain when it comes to discussing ARod.

You're in, as much as that may stigmatize you.

I thought the 2004 team had better pitching.

    Wrong?

Cardinals were the easiest pick of the playoffs. Getting great odds after their late-season swoon, they were the ultimate contrarian pick. See ya, Padres!

I'm calm. It amuses me, though, to see such stupidity on a board populated by intelligent people.

The fact that people are whining about the Yankees' payroll, and hoping they lose is funny. How will a Yankees' playoff loss affect you? Will it make your life that much better? Just accept the fact that they're gonna steamroll their way to another World Series championship.

Any team that has Jeff Weaver as its No. 3 or 4 starter, has issues. Plus, that lineup doesn't compare to this year's lineup.

That may depend on which Randy Johnson shows up tomorrow.

Seven words: Kenny Rogers is starting for the Tigers.

I hold my stance: If the Yankees fail to win the championship, they should not be allowed to field a team next season.

    You need some therapy.

Seriously, are we supposed to just hand them the trophy because they're supposed to steamroll to the title? They were a team of destiny in 2001 and lost. They were a huge favorite to beat the no-name Marlins in 2003 and lost. They were one strike away from sweeping the Red Sox in the 2004 ALCS and lost. And so we're supposed to assume the Yankees are going to win this? No way.

If the Yankees win, they would have earned it. But I'm not ready to write off anyone yet.

And I'll take it one step further (and I say this as someone who likes you) -- In what way, shape or form does our dislike of the Yankees affect you, hockeybeat? Most baseball fans don't give a shit about most teams, but most who are not Yankees fans loathe the Yankees. We don't like them. We'll never like them, and don't mind saying so. How does that affect you? Just ignore it.

Just like when the late-night thread was in its heyday and you spent time complaining about it. We weren't talking to you, or about you. It didn't affect you. Just move on.

Dude, I'm a realist. The 2006 Yankees might have the best one-through-nine lineup we'll ever see. I can hope that the Mets win. But there's no point in rooting against the Yankees or hoping against hope. If the Yanks lose, I'll glady eat crow.

Pitching and defense win championships, hockeybeat. And I'm not convinced the Yankees have the pitching or the defense to get it done.
