First of all, this is just Fox and ESPN setting up a monster ratings weekend. The Yanks are going to win Games Four and Five. The Mets are going to lose Games Three and Four, but win Game Five. And the networks will be the biggest winners of all; between L.A., NYC and Flyover Country (TM), everyone will be watching baseball.

Secondly, Bonds had one successful post-season to his name. One. The Yanks' $45 million Johnson was brought in to be the ace stopper in post-season. What he--and Curt Schilling--did in 2001 is irrelevant. Gary Sheffield didn't even start tonight; Torre started smooth-fielding (yeah, right) Jason Giambi at first.

ARod's criticized because of his contract. Nothing more. Nothing less. And it's not right. Not in every case.

Well, considering some geniuses here were laughing about the easy sweep the Yankees were going to have, I'd say right now, Detroit has the upper hand. Yes, the Yankees can win the next two, but once again, nobody thought the Tigers would win a game, let alone put themselves in a position to win the series at home.

The Yankees are the ones squirming right now, not the Tigers. And the Tigers should be disappointed if they can't win this series. But no matter what happens, the people laughing about the easy series the Yankees were going to have are being proven wrong.

Three pitches quick. Leyland said he wasn't going to use Zumaya tonight, given the schedule, but I guess if you're going to break the rule, three pitches would be a good limit. Right now, it seems as if the pitching that got them there has its swagger back.

If a moral victory argument is all you have, you shouldn't be here. Moral victories. Give me a break. Guys are paid millions of dollars to win, not to come close and give it the ol' college try.

Anyone who says, "Yay, we came close, we almost won!" is nothing more than a loser.

Yes, and it was one of the greatest single postseason performances in the history of baseball. Doesn't excuse him for 1990-92, but he still had one.

Again, many are to blame. But A-Rod's still the poster boy. He's the MVP. He's the Greatest Ballplayer Ever (tm). He's the one that's going to hit 800 home runs. And he's the one who is something like 4-for-his-last-40 in October.

If you can take the credit, you can take the blame.

He's also criticized for his hubris ("they're just jealous because I'm good-looking"). He's also criticized for his style, the way he carefully crafts his image to the point of fakeness. He's also criticized for not caring enough -- for not doing enough to work out of a slump that lasts two months. He's also criticized for failing to come through in the clutch, time and again.

It's not just the contract. Not at all.

Where did I ever say I was looking for moral victories? I'm just saying it's funny how all the Yankee fans/East Coast folks were saying a Yankee sweep with no problem. And I'm thoroughly enjoying them bitch, squirm and still belittle the AL Central.

Tell me, what are The True Yankees' numbers in the last 11 playoff games? If the rest of the phonies have hit over .300, I'll cede the argument. But since Game Three of the ALCS, The True Yankees have hit for shit.

So ARod's an egotistical phony? I guess he's the only one in sports.

Yay, it doesn't matter if the Tigers lose! They played the Yankees tough! Go A.L. Central! Yay moral victories! [/dripping with sarcasm]

So because I've said the Yankee fans/East Coast folks have been proven wrong, I really said it's OK for the Tigers to lose now?

    Nice spin.

Anyone who thinks that bloated, decayed Yankee lineup looked ready to play in a big game is fooling himself. They got mowed down by a 41-year-old junkballer.

And if the Zumaya kid ever really learns how to pitch, look out, because no one can touch him for raw talent.

I'm sorry I didn't go through the first 14 pages, but what is the arm patch the As are wearing? To me, it looks like HOLY TOLEDO. If so, I don't get it.

I think it's in honor of Bill King, their longtime broadcaster who died last year.
