So I wake up this morning, figuiring for sure I've had a dream that Kenny Rogers -- yes,the bases loaded walk guy -- made the Yankees hitters look like kids. Then, I read the paper and realized it wasn't a dream. I don't know about the rest of you, but I certainly was one of the "experts" who thought the Yankees would have no trouble with the Tigers. Well, I am sorry and I would like to thank Jim Leyland and the rest of his band of Grandersons for making this one hell of an enjoyable series.

Sure, I know the Yankees can win the next two games, but no matter how the series finishes, I have thoroughly enjoyed watching it. And boy, do I love that Tigers bullpen.

Nothing wrong with being mowed down by a 41-year-old junk baller, RE: Tanana comma Frank

I'm gonna guess that, today -- right now -- Rogers is going to rank last night as the top. And it'll always stay in his top 5.

But I'm also gonna guess that for the rest of his life, Rogers is going to rank July 28, 1994, as the greatest game he ever pitched.

I know where you're going with this, but this isn't an either-or decision, regular season or playoffs. Both matter. Both are different.

Like Grand Moff Steinbrenner, I expect a team with a $195 million payroll to do a little more than scratch against a guy with a career 8.85 ERA in the postseason. Nothing against Rogers or the Tigers, they look so much hungrier than this Yankees team.

And as I said in the ARod thread, eleventymilliondollar payroll ... and JARET WRIGHT on the hill with the season at stake.

    MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

    Quickly 3-0 Detroit.

That can't be right ... 3-0 Detroit? I don't believe it. A weak team like Detroit could never play with New York, much less avoid a sweep.

Prologue, ladies and laddies. The Yanks are setting the stage for an improbable comeback.

Thanks for coming, Tigers. You had a nice run.

4-0 Detroit. Two on, two out, bullpen coming in for NY.

Just following online, but did ARod just throw one away and have it lead to a run? And to think, they were already KILLING the guy last night.

  10. Good job, hockeybeat. It's working.

    No-hitter alert:

Best offense in baseball history hitless through 5.
