Just because DyePack is bringing up old posts and I liked this "middle-of-the-pack" exchange. :D

I still haven't found the best one that I remember. Also, before anyone gets their knickers in a twist, it's all in fun. I'll either combine those into one post or delete them soon if someone else doesn't do it first.

I'm man enough to say I was wrong.

    Lads, let me have it.

I've done my part by bringing up that one post to represent the rest. If you were a Yankees fan, though, I wouldn't be so easy on you.

You're a good man for admitting you're wrong, I'll give you that. It just makes poking fun at you less enjoyable!

My sentiments regarding the Yankees' demise are best expressed by the late, great Darren McGavin, upon seeing the leg lamp illuminated for the first time: "It's ... it's indescribably beautiful!"

    Kids, today's word is "schadenfreude."

I thought he kissed the guy's hate, or at least pretended to.

No, that would be the Braves. John Schuerholz can sit and spin with that label.

I dunno about that. I mean, even the Braves won a world title. A lot "close, but no cigars"? Sure, but there's still a big difference between winning one and not winning any.

As the for the Yankees being baseball's Bills, that's just asinine. And even as somebody who is decidedly NOT a Yankees fan, I'll give you 26 reasons to back up my case.

The best part of this link is absolutely Rob Neyer. Oh mercy.

    Rob
    Neyer

    ALDS:
    Yanks over Tigers

(We'll give him a pass here since all 17 guys pick this one that way.)

    Twins over A's

(Ouch. Hard to miss this one any worse. The equivelent of swinging and missing at a pitch that hits the screen.)

    NLDS:
    Dodgers over Mets
(Again, wow. Maybe he was too busy slamming other writers books on Amazon to watch any Mets games this year.)

    Padres over Cards
(It seems the Pads are Neyer's last hope to avoid getting all four series not just wrong, but ridiculously wrong.)

    ALCS:
    Twins over Yankees
(Perhaps this one can still play itself out on the golf course. If so, I like Mauer/Morneau 10 and 8 over Jeter/Rodriguez in alternate shot thanks to A-Rod atrocious short game.)

    NLCS:
    Dodgers over Padres
(If this series is never played, can it still be mismanaged by Grady Little?)

    World Series:
    Dodgers in 7

    MVP:
    J.D. Drew

(I have no joke here. Just wow.)

Rob "The Cooler" Neyer, ladies and gentleman.

(In fairness, Sean McAdam f'ed up his picks just as bad. But he had Nomar as his series MVP, so I'm not sure which is techincally worse.)

Wow, you gotta love October baseball. All skill goes out the window. Some teams get lucky, others don't. Some find pitching they never had, others lose all they ever had.

Tonight at the Ravine is one I won't soon forget. Really a fun game. The "chatter bats" are way better than last year's "thunderstix." And as fun as the game was, it was sad to watch the Dodgers burry themselves in the series. They looked like a team that shouldn't have even made the playoffs, and definitely deserved to lose. But they sure made the joke known as the New York Mets actually look like a capable ballclub along the way.

I'm sure glad the A's payout on $100 was 10 to 1 when I locked it in...

    ;D

Cradle Robber, as I recall, you wanted the Dodgers to get the wild card instead of the division title so they could play the Muts, as you called them. Be careful what you wish for next time, young man.
