Hey, I have to root for my own personal interests now. So if St. Louis loses, that means the last team from the state of Missouri to win a World Series would still be the 1985 Royals. Go Mets!

Oliver Perez is starting Sunday. There's one win.

my paper called last night's game a snooze fest or something along those lines. i thought it was anything but. i like a good pitching matchup. sure, if every game is 2-0 it gets a little dull but it means there's some terrific pitching and probably great defense on both sides.

that said, i just love watching jeff weaver pitch and waiting for him to self destruct, wondering what'll set him off this time -- a bad call, an error, a homer. i bet if you crunch the numbers you'll see that the next batter after he gives up a home run get a hit about 98 percent of the time.

A friend of mine works as a token clerk on the Whitestone Bridge. He just called to say that Beltran's shot landed in his booth...

Anyone who thinks Game 1 was a snoozefest is part of the FOX-ification of baseball. That's the same group that needs radar gun readings 5 mph too fast.

You need to go Carpenter in game 2. That way, he can come back in game 6 on 4 days rest.

And then Game 7 on zero days rest.

Missed opportunity for the Cardinals last night. Anytime you can say Jeff Weaver and 2 runs in the same sentence (and not include the word inning in said sentence), that's got to be a W.

Just to take a break from the NL lovefest, does anyone else think the Tigers may never lose another game, that Leyland has a star on his shoulder and can do nothing wrong?

    I'm of that mind, yes.

Amen - that was a riveting game last night even if you were not a fan of either team

    BYH & HB-

You're both talking heart over head (wishful thinking & anti-jinxing respectively).

Carpenter has thrown his last pitch till February.

Carpenter is 4-0 with a 2.10 ERA in five postseason starts.

As for home-road stats, he won Game 1 in San Diego when he allowed one run, struck out seven and walked only one in six-plus innings. At home, he wasn't quite as sharp, but he was sharp enough to close out the series Sunday.

Bottom line, Carpenter is this series' one true ace. You have to treat him as such. Don't play home-road stats like he's John Maine or someone like that. Pitch him as soon as he's available.

Home/road splits are not predictive. They're a fluke. They change every year.
