It's easy to say in hindsight, but he really was terrible during his short Philly tenure in non-saves. Seemed equally awful in tie games and 4+ run games. And the maddening thing was that it didn't matter where he was in the lineup -- seemed like guys who would have no business hitting him could.

 

Well, that sucks.

 

Of course, I'm probably still bitter about 9/6/05 and 9/7/05, where Wagner blew back-to-back games against an Astros team the Phils would ultimately lose the wild card to ... BY ONE MOTHERFUCKING GAME. And, yeah, one of those was a 1-1 game that he lost when the decrepit Craig Biggio crushed one off him.

 

Mustard, genius Willie should have known Wagner is shit in non-save situations. Wasn't it a non-save situation when the Yankees came back against him with two outs at Shea this year?

Nice work tonight Willie. The guy who yanks Steve Trachsel in the fourth inning with a two games to none lead over Grady Little's Dodgers leaves John Maine in there to get torched and blow an early lead.

As someone who suffered through watched many, many NL games, I can assure you that the league was a steaming pile of shit this year.
