I think he goes with all three of them in Game seven, between the three of them they have to get him to the sixth inning.

Oliver hung in there like a champ last night. That three pitch strikeout of Pujols was him at his best. He just isn't consistent.

If it goes to Game 7, it's a tough call on who to start for the Mets. As much as I dislike Trachsel, I still might start him.

He'd be on an even shorter leash than in his last start.... but he's been one of those guys who's OK in every other start. Maybe he can keep his fragile head together for 5 innings.

If he doesn't have it, then bring in Darren Oliver or Oliver Perez right away.... If Trachsel gives up two quick runs again, then the Mets will just have to overcome that.... if they can't, they don't deserve a trip to the World Series.

If Trachsel doesn't start, it would be a disaster to bring him out of the pen.... he's too weak-minded.

That being said, I'd also be A-OK if Darren Oliver or even Oliver Perez got the start.

The Mets were NEVER going to win in the playoffs with their pitching.... For us Mets fans, we just gotta hope they keep hitting like they did in Game 4.

If I'm the Mets, I'd start Steve Trachsel every game the rest of the way. But, you know, I have something riding on this. :D

There is no way in hell Trachsel should ever throw another pitch for the Mets. Ever. He was worst-case scenario x 10 Saturday night. I would not be shocked if he's left off the roster entirely if the Mets make the *vomit* World Series.

I'd go with Darren Oliver in Game Seven. What the hell? What a story that would be: Guy's out of baseball last year and starts Game Seven this year.

I think the Mets win in 6, but if there is a Game 7, best bet is Perez on 3 days rest followed by Oliver and then everybody else EXCEPT Trachsel.

Chances are Trachsel, never one of Willie's favorites, has thrown his last pitch for the Mets, especially since El Duque says he'll beback for the World Series.

Maybe they could get Doc on a work-release program

I like this news. Glavine can pitch on his normal rest. Anything to help end the Cardinals season right now.

A big part of me never wants to see Trachsel pitch for the Mets again. But depending on the bullpen situation going into a possible Game 7, he might *shudder* be the best option.

Glavine on full rest is a great thing for the Mets. Hopefully it won't even get to Game 7 if Glavine and Maine can keep it close and hand it over to the pen. Mets gotta keep hitting... maybe not 12 runs, but they gotta get 6 or 7 to win the next two.

Last I checked, Weaver is still scheduled to start for the Cards in Game 5. I wonder if La Russa will pull the ol' switcharoo and start Carpenter on short rest.... considering it certainly a must-win for St. Louis and Carpenter is better at home.

LaRussa is stupid if he does that.

No matter what happens in Game 5, there will be a Game 6. Carpenter will either be trying to pitch the Cards into the World Series or trying to force a Game 7. Either way, the stakes of that game will be much bigger than Game 5. Better to use Carpenter on full rest than on short rest in that case.

Yeah, I think you're right. Just too much thinking on my part because of the rainout.

Hopefully the Mets can figure out how to hit Weaver the second time around. Glavine has been hot in the postseason, but the old can can't be expected to toss six or seven more innings of shutout ball.

I used to HATE Glavine when he was with the Braves (and during his slow start with the Mets). But he's been fun to watch, and a great story with the 13 scoreless innings in the playoffs.

I agree with all of this. I'm shocked it went this far. I hear people afraid of Suppan in game 7, are you kidding? Sox fans, tell everyone about your Rogers/Weaver.
