Wow, the two teams least deserving of even making the postseason, and it's entirely likely they'll meet for the World Series.

I never would have guessed it...

Just curious, why would the Tigers be one of the "least deserving of even making the postseason" when they were only the best team in baseball until, what, the last month or so?

It's definitely a longshot, but like I said, a lot of things haven't gone according to expectations so far. I doesn't strike me as impossible for the Mets to win Game 6. And if they win Game 6, would you expect Suppan to pitch anything close to 8 scoreless innings again in Game 7 on the road?

This bugs me, because I think I'm a baseball fan.

So, being a baseball fan and a sports journalist, if I'm not interested enough to watch these games the past week, really, is the lukewarm baseball fan watching them?

It very well might just be me. But I'm really ambivalent about the postseason right now.

    Red Sox swept the Mets

Royals swept the Red Sox. No, wait, Royals won FIVE IN A ROW from the Red Sox.

    Hoops is right.

I hope the Cardinals win the whole thing, just to see who the Pythagorean champion is. ::)

Royals also swept the Tigers the last weekend. So if the Tigers win the Series, I guess the 62-100 suck ass Royals are the real champions!

No one here is saying the Royals are champions of anything. What some of us are saying is that the Royals might actually decent when compared to some of the NL's playoff teams.

And you keep bringing up the Royals sweep to end the season -- Miner and Ledezma each started a game that series, so what's that about, I don't know (Bonderman started the finale). Just seems like the Tigers wanted to rest their tops arms that last series and have them ready for the playoffs.

Another thing about the Tigers -- they were 13-23 when Polonco didn't play, most of which just so happened to be when he went on the DL during the last month. He only came back for the last two games in that Royals sweep.
