Here's the only thing I want to know. In the history of baseball, has anyone hamed YADIER ever had a game-winning hit? Thank you.

And, in all seriousness, from someone not a fan of either team, that was a great game to sit and watch and enjoy.

    Tigers in 5.

    It was a fun game.

And I know I'm in the minority, but I like the Fox crowd shots, as long as they don't interfere with the action, which I don't think they do.

The crowd shots after the Molina homer were priceless.

Neifi Fucking Perez is by far the lesser of the two evils.

If it's any consolation, Neifi just takes up space at the end of the bench.

The putting of Floyd on the playoff roster severely hamstrung Randolph in terms of what he could do. He had to save Ramon Castro in case LoDuca went down. Anderson Hernandez is not a big-league hitter. Michael Tucker? He didn't have much off the bench.

The Cards were much better equipped from that standpoint. And sometimes it comes down to that.

The key, to me, was Endy Chavez. Put aside the incredible catch, he was overmatched the entire series. Under pressure, he got back into his old habits of swinging for the fences on the first pitch. Guy hit .300 during the season. Just one hit here or there (including with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth, right after the catch, when he could have made himself truly immortal), and everything changes.

You hate to pinpoint him, but that's Floyd's spot, if healthy. A lot of what-ifs.

No issue with Randolph not bringing in Wagner. Wagner has been horseshit in non-save situations. That's true of many closers. I was awful happy not to see Guillermo Mota in there, believe me.

No Question I am glad to see the Cardinals win this. Nice hotties.

True, but that's nobody's fault but Willie's. He didn't have to put Cliff on the NLCS roster, but he did. He was swayed by his usual 'my guys' beliefs, but guess what--his guys let him down for the most part.

Disagree with a few of your assertions, Michael. Sending Floyd up in that situation was the move a fan would make. ("Maybe he'll hit a homer and it'll be all over!) In reality it was a bad gamble because he was the Met most likely to hit into a DP because of the bad Achilles. Veterans aren't immune from hitting low strikes on the ground. That's aside from the fact that he's never been a good pinch-hitter and he hadn't faced live pitching since Game 1.

There's no guarantee the bunt would have worked, of course, but Willie could have picked his best bunter (Anderson Hernandez? Glavine?) and maximized his chances of it working. I don't think the Cardinals would have then walked Reyes because they wouldn't want to put the winning run on base, but if they had, fine. Then you have LoDuca, who's patient and rarely strikes out, and Beltran coming up with the bases loaded.

It all comes down to what you think is more likely, a gimpy, rusty Floyd getting an extra base hit to tie the game, or Reyes/LoDuca/Beltran getting a single. I would take the latter.

Gee's analysis also ignores the fact that it's better to have a guy on third than on second, even if they would score on the same hit.

Second and third with one out -- or, bases loaded with one out if the give up the IBB -- still gives you the possibility of two shots at winning the game with one hit, plus the possibility of a wild pitch, passed ball, swinging bunt and everyone safe, etc.

And if you get one run there, you force the infield in, which GREATLY increases your chances of at least tying the game.

Have to bunt them over there. National League teams have to have one guy on the bench who can get one down. Have to bunt.

Since everything I have picked so far this postseason has been wrong, I will say Cardinals in 6. Let's go Cards!

Also, as I posted at the storm shelter, the waving of the towels didn't faze me too much it was that stupid recorded voice saying: Everybody clap now!. I can understand doing that at Safeco or the Ballpark at Arlington, but that shouldn't be done in cities where there are supposedly real baseball fans.
Mets fans should of been on their feet the entire game screaming and yelling, it was a fucking Game 7.

Oh well, at least the Mets lost. Good to see HB have to suffer like us Yankees fans.

Poindexter: Well-played. I'm right so rarely that I have to brag when my blind pisses hit the toilet.

Spnited: I might be a fraud, but YOU lost the bet to the fraud. You'll never live this down! Go fuck yourself, you pathetic old Met fan!!!!
