Sweet Love actually was among the first handful of video CDs 20+ years ago (I Love L.A. was another one... what a great video)

So, I own some Anita Baker, too.

That was putrid... though I guess I give her credit for not doing the lip sync everyone does.

    Rogers should be ejected.

Why? For smearing pine tar on his throwing hand? Is it suddenly illegal to doctor the ball?

Whoever is producing this broadcast should be telling Chris Myers -- who just informed us that players were dressing warmly because of the cold -- to go get an explanation for why Rogers wasn't tossed.

Don't forget Willie's decision to leave his closer on the bench in the ninth inning to let Heilman, who had never pitched a postseason game before this year, pitch to St. Louis.

I realize having Rivera is different than Wagner, but there's no way Torre uses anyone other than his closer in the top of the ninth in a tie Game 7 at home.

this might be the first time in history a sideline reporter could deliver some useful information. Sadly, it won't happen.

Pine tar is nothing more than liquid resin.

Managers usually bring in the closer in the top of the 9th, or 10th, matching up the closer against the top of the order, or 3-4-5.

I probably would have waited for the 10th, too, figuring that Heilman could handle the bottom of the order.

    ... and?

What is that in response to?

    Is it a liquid, though?

It was just a stray comment.

Could also have been a Betadine spray -- basically a liquid band-aid.

Wagner had been lit up in both of his previous appearances in the series. I don't blame Randolph for not going to him. Heilman had been much more effective.

I didn't have the sound up so I have to ask, was it McCarver and Buck who noticed the substance? If so, would they have said anything if it was a Cardinal?
