Ichiro frequently looks silly, particularly when he's trying to pull the ball and misses; he twists himself into a pretzel. And he swings at as many bad pitches as any good hitter in baseball, Vlad Guerrero included.

When he's hot, he serves that ball around the field like a tennis ball. He is decidedly cool right now, and he's not getting many pitches to hit. It seems paradoxical to say it, but he is one of the most aggressive hitters around.

I think one thing that makes me an absolute baseball nerd is my love for watching good, smart hitters. Guys who go the opposite way, don't pull pitches on the outside corner, hit it where it's pitched, foul six pitches off waiting for one to drive. I love that stuff. I mostly watch NL baseball, so I'm talking about guys like Bonds, Pujols, D-Lee, Helton, Chipper, etc... That's why MLB.tv with six games at once is so awesome.

Vlad is one of the best hitters in the game even though he's a freak at the plate. Pitches above his head, he gets em. Pitches that bounce off the ground, he gives em a wallop. I think I remember him belting a pitch-out once.

I also like great hitters who have zero patience ... but the patient ones are fun to watch in a baseball nerd kind of way.

Would you rather watch Vlad hit a monster home run on a pitch that is a foot above his head or Pujols wait out a 10 pitch at-bat to hit a double?

Now that Roger has a job, he probably won't have as much time to post on here.

    :D

An A-Bomb for A-Rod. Ends his home run drought with a two-run shot to give the Yankees a 6-1 lead in the fifth.

Pending a miracle, Josh Beckett is about to go 7-0.

Even though it would keep Pube with us indefinitely, part of me does think it would be hilarious if Beckett goes something like 17-4 or 5 and then sprains his elbow.

    THAT'S NOT FUNNY FUCKFACE!!!!

Anyone who likes decency on the boards should be hoping Beckett goes 36-0.
