I know, and one of the worst arguments in sports is "there's just so much else to do in (big city)!"

Yeah, well (big city) also has tons of fucking people, and when they don't show up to support one of the best franchises in pro sports ... you're a bad sports town. It's not their fault The Ted is too big, though.

Absolutely. On some levels, the Olympics screwed things up for baseball in Atlanta. Everybody else was off building ball parks and they got stuck with the last of the multi-purpose stadiums.

Exactly. Not to mention the fact that Cordero and Turnbow were both imploding and losing their jobs as closers about this time a year ago. Meredith has been as good or better than any non-closer in baseball since last July.

Still....Cordero-Turnbow is pretty damn good. Now let's see if Cordero's arm is still attached by July the way Yost is abusing him.

The Ted's not too big, and the weather's usually warm (if unbearably humid.) There's really no excuse ... except, of course, that the city of Atlanta has been an embarassment to the Braves franchise since, oh, 1967 (cq. Crowds were strong in '66.)

However, I have used the "better-things-to-do" argument -- and I will continue to use the "better-things-to-do" argument -- in regards to L.A. not having an NFL team.

The onus is not on the fans to support the team; the onus is on the team to give the fucking fans a reason to come out.

The post-1990 Braves, however, have always given the fans a reason to come out. Ticket prices are low; parking is cheap; a great ballpark both for family/kids and serious baseball fans (the Braves museum is a steal at $2 -- I highly recommend); ... and, of course, 14 fucking division titles, five fucking NL pennants and a World Fucking Series champion in the last decade-plus.

No goddamn excuse. Atlanta is a horrible fucking sports town. A fucking embarassment.

I love The Ted ... it's just too big. It's a really nice ballpark.

It's not a horrible sports town. It's a horrible pro baseball town. It's a great SEC football town.

  8. Speaking of John Gibbons amaging the Blue Jays - this was pretty funny.

    Freaks.

Also, very quietly, Jason Marquis is 5-1 with a 1.70 ERA. Three-hit shutout tonight.

Especially when it comes against the Pirates...that just doesn't count.
